I’ve also had my own fight with eating disorders and they’re bollocks quite honestly but I think it’s great that you’ve come out and created a network of support for others like us.

I don’t know why people do that. It really IS quite childish. Thank you for sharing this. With each and every comment like yours, I am so surprised to find how many of us have gone through something so similar, but we hide it in shame. I think that if we take it out of the darkness of shame and bring it into the light, we can help and love each other through these difficulties. Of course if you feel it’s too painful to share, now may not be the time. You’ll know when it’s time, like I did. :)

Tracey – I replied under your first post but want to say something more. If it feels right to you, and your doctor ok’s it, please consider hypnotherapy. I write about my experience with it in my blog (see side bar for the link). The biggest thing is getting to the ROOT cause of your lack of appetite/interest in/desire for food. Once you find out what it is, begin to heal it, and start to crave and enjoy food again, it will be an amazing experience and will suddenly all make sense. Much love.

Tracey – that is what happened to me in the past – becoming so anxious that I had no interest/desire in food and was losing weight like anything. It was so unhealthy, and I felt out of control. I am so thankful that angels were watching over me and that I got the help I needed. I am glad you had someone to “wake you up” too. Thank you for taking the risk and sharing this. I simply cannot BELIEVE the number of people who have also gone through this. We can prevail!!!

Part III what I have to and even then half the time I’m forcing myself to eat.

It’s something I struggle with every day… I don’t think something like that ever really goes away…

I can’t believe someone thumbs downed my comment lol. That’s pretty childish. :-P Anyway, I’ve had some food issues myself. I go through phases of eating very little where my size decreases significantly and then I go through phases where I comfort eat and the weight goes back on. It’s all to do with my low self-esteem and distorted body image. I’m working on averaging it out so I can eat normally. I have a story to tell but it’s painful and I’m not sure anyone wants or needs to hear it. :-)

Part II… and just would not eat. At first no one noticed because I would cook for every one else but make an excuse that I had eaten earlier. It wasn’t till I dropped below 100 pounds that people started noticing that I wasn’t eating. I would seriously only eat 3 peices of celery for a meal because I couldn’t stand the thought of eating – I don’t even think I was aware of what was happening. My oldest son intervened and scared the hell out of me to the point where now I do eat, but only

Glad that you are sharing your stories. They will def. be helpful to those who struggle with the same thing. The best part about overcoming a trial, is that it opens a door for you to pull others through with you. Keep up the positive work Debi.

Deb, you’re amazing for sharing this. I never knew that about you, but I do know that eating disorders are hard to overcome. There is a misconception that eating disorders using start during the teen years. I have two stories for you.

The first one is about me. I actually developed an eating disorder in my 30′s. I literally quit eating – it may have had something to do with the relationship I was in at that time – I don’t know… I just know that I could not stand the site of food and
